On Friday, April 5, 2013, experts met at the premises of the Tulln UFT/BOKU (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences) to hold lectures on soil conservation and sustainability.
Host Univ.-Prof. Dr. Walter Wenzel, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, welcomed MPP Mayor Mag. Alfred Riedl, Manuela Unterleitner (Tulln Waste Association), Christian Steiner, Grad. Eng. (Lower Austrian ABB/ELSA e.V.), Erwin Szlezak, Grad. Eng. (Lower Austrian ABB); Franz Rybaczek, Bernhard Kuderer, MSc., Meinhard Breiling, Grad. Eng. (SENEC Association), Dr. Michael Pollak, Grad. Eng. (wpa Consulting Engineers) as well as Peter Strauss, Grad. Eng. (BAW).
After extensive presentations of the topics of soil as a carbon storage tank, soil as a filter, soil as an indicator of flooding events, and presentation of the project of "humus balance" and "social production", the participants were guided through the premises of the Tulln UFT/BOKU.
After these expert lectures, a field trip to the Wagram viticulture area at the municipality of Grafenwoerth took place, with subsequent tasting of regional specialities.
